Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP)

The Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP) is an open industry standard for agentic commerce, co-developed with Google, Shopify, Walmart, Target, and Wayfair, that defines schemas, payment handlers, and capability profiles enabling AI agents to discover and transact with any compliant merchant without bespoke integration. Endorsed by more than 20 organisations including Zalando, Stripe, Mastercard, and Visa, and now with Amazon, Meta, Microsoft, and Salesforce on its Tech Council, UCP is emerging as the common infrastructure layer for AI-agent-to-merchant commerce.
